The Communist Party Of India, on Sunday, demanded that ministers facing charges of helping YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in accumulation of alleged illegal wealth must resign from the cabinet.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a seminar on the agriculture crisis in the state, CPI State Secretary K Narayana said that the tainted ministers should resign from their posts with immediate effect.
He said that the Central Bureau Of Investigation would not be able to conduct a fair investigation into Jagan's assets case if the ministers continue in their posts.
Regarding the by-elections, Narayana appealed to the voters not to vote for candidates with criminal backgrounds.
The CPI leader also slammed the state government for having failed to provide assistance to farmers across the state. He said that the government has delayed the decision in fixing the right prices for farm produce, and that the prices are primarily benefitting the middlemen.
He said that most of the time, farmers are being forced to sell their produce at cheaper rates. He also expressed concern over the helplessness of elected representatives in helping the farmers. (INN)
