The party alleged that the company was allowed to function during the ongoing lockdown to supply to distilleries owned by AP CM Y S Jaganmohan Reddy himself.
CPI national Secretary Dr K Narayana today demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government immediately close LG Polymers, the company "responsible" for the deaths of 12 people at Visakhapatnam.
He also demanded that the state government order a judicial inquiry into the whole issue, and provide adequate security to the local people and workers of the company.
Narayana said that the state government appeared to be giving priority to the industrialists of the state over its own people. Targeting the Chief Minister of the state Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, he alleged that the company was allowed to function during the ongoing lockdown to supply bottles to distilleries owned by the CM himself. He also expressed his surprise over the decision of the CM to talk to the representatives of the company first instead of visiting the family members of the dead or the people who were undergoing treatment.
He said that LG Polymers had committed a dreadful crime by causing the deaths of so many innocent people, and demanded that the state government book a murder case against the company under Section 302 of the IPC to immediately arrest the representatives of the company.
