For the first time in Telangana, the police have filed a PD Act case in a case of white-collar fraud, on a woman, realtor Aruna Reddy, 47, for collecting crores of rupees from gullible people and not repaying them.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagavath said that the police had imposed the PD Act on a white collar criminal for the first time in Telangana.
He said that Reddy had 10 cases against her already, and that she had looted Rs 3.23 crores by deceiving 19 people since 2009.
Reddy had been shifted to the Chanchalguda jail after the case had been filed against her, he said.
The police had arrested her in 2005, too, for deceiving a PSU bank by fabricating documents.
