A young woman on Wednesday approached the State Human Rights Commission, seeking it to protect her from a man who had allegedly married her forcibly.
According to her petition, the woman, Ramula complained that no complaint has been registered by the LB Nagar police even after she approached them.
She claimed that one Ramesh had abducted her and then married her forcibly after assaulting her physically.
Ramula said that Ramesh had abducted her on the pretext of taking her to see her mother, saying that her mother had suffered a heart attack.
She was taken to Yadagirigutta and later to an unidentified place, and confined in a dark room.
She further alleged that she was beaten so badly by Ramesh that she is now suffering from 75% hearing loss.
Ramula further alleged that she had married one A Khadiri of her own free will in 1999, and that she was the mother of a 7-month old girl. She said that she had developed some differences with her husband and that they were living apart.
She also alleged that she had approached the LB Nagar Police Station seeking protection and lodging complaints, but they turned her away without registering any complaint against Ramesh.
