Telangana Cinematography and Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said that an official meeting would soon be conducted to "sort out" the problems being faced by the film exhibitors of the state.
A team of representatives from the Telangana Film Chamber called on the minister at his Masab Tank office.
The team, comprising President Murali Mohan and Secretary Sunil Narang among others, lauded and thanked Yadav for releasing orders mandating the collection of parking fees in single-screen film theatres. They also appealed to the minister to ensure that the issues of film exhibitors and workers were addressed.
The government is expected to take decisions on exhibitors' and theatre workers' problems at the upcoming meeting.
Exhibitors Sadanand, Abhishek, and Srinivas were among those present at the meeting.
Chamber representatives had
met Yadav earlier as well to urge him to permit them to "unlock" film theatres as "thousands of film industry workers" were facing pressing pecuniary problems due to lack of employment opportunities caused by the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdown. They had pointed out that with Covid-19 cases now falling, it would be alright to reopen the theatres.
The body had also appealed to the government to release the necessary orders in this regard, and to provide the incentives and subsidies for the distribution and exhibition of films that had been promised to the film industry.
