Telangana Cinematography and Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav today reiterated that the Telangana government would support the film industry.
There would be no restrictions on film theatres on screening movies despite the surge in Omicron cases, he told reporters.
"Our support to the industry has been whole-hearted. In addition to letting them hike ticket prices, we permitted theatres to screen a fifth show, too, every day. Our support has seen huge viewership for the screenings of the recent big-budget
Akhanda and
Pushpa. We will launch an online ticket portal, too, soon," he said.
"The government will not take any steps or tough decisions against the film industry. The industry employs a lot of people and needs to sustain itself, and that is the reason that we allowed an increase in the prices of film tickets - to help it regain normalcy after the near-shutdown in the pandemic days. I will talk to the ministers concerned of Andhra Pradesh, too, seeking their help for the industry," he added.
Yadav also said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's goal was to make Hyderabad a hub for the film industry.
The minister however said that the government may take a decision imposing some restrictions if the Covid situation spun out of beyond control.
