Municipal Administration minister M Maheedhar Reddy says that the state government is in favour of settling the issues of the GHMC employees' union.
Municipal Administration And Urban Development minister M Maheedhar Reddy stated that the state government is in favour of settling the issues of the GHMC employees' union, and that it is only "worried" about policy complications that would arise during implementation.
The minister said that he understands the "enthusiasm of union members" in settling the issues of GHMC employees, and that the government is also "very keen on setting up a cordial atmosphere".
The minister held a meeting with GHMC Commissioner M T Krishna Babu, and discussed the issue of union members wanting to settle the issues of the employees' union in his chambers today.
Regarding the issue of the relaxation of rules of marks and age, for outsourced employees, the minister said that he would discussing the matter with the Law department in a couple of days.
Regarding the regularization of outsourced employees in GHMC, the minister directed the Commissioner to collect details from APSRTC, Singareni, Tourism and Endowments departments, amongst others. The minister further said that the government would help out the employees since the issues are legally bound, and since "It is their moral responsibility to look after the survival of the Institution also".
Regarding the allocation of house sites to GHMC employees, the minister directed the GHMC Commissioner to propose to the government the allocation of the Auto Nagar dumping yard, and directed the GHMC employees' union to register a housing society prior to the Commissioner's proposal.
He further said that as a Municipal minister, he has no objection towards giving Municipal land to Municipal employees.
For the benefit of outsourced night sweepers and other sanitation workers, the minister directed the GHMC Commissioner to find out how nationalized banks insure sweepers against deaths and injuries that take place on the job, and to come up with a suitable scheme.
The minister also said that the government was looking towards the enhancement of present wages of outsourced employees.
"The government wants to fix wages separately for mission cities and regular municipalities," he added.
Besides the Commissioner, GHMEU president U Gopal, general secretary M A Jabbar, Additional Commissioners S Ramnarayan Reddy, L Vandan Kumar and K Siva Parvathi and other union members participated in the meeting. (INN)
