Telugu Desam Party leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy's Telangana Nagara has caused a furore in the state's political scene, both within and outside the TDP.
The Telangana leaders belonging to other political parties made derogatory comments on the Telangana Nagara, apparently for the simple reason that Nagam did not belong to their party.
Brushing aside the speculations that he would quit the TDP to fight for the cause of Telangana, Nagam questioned if one was not allowed to fight for separate statehood while being a part of a political party.
He further stated that the Nagara was an invitation to leaders belonging to the various political parties in the state to come together to fight for a separate Telangana. He explained that the event was conducted without a TDP flag in sight, as the event had nothing to do with the party.
Emerging from a meeting with Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday evening, the Telangana leader demanded that the Pranahita-Chevella project must be accorded the status of a National Project first, and not Polavaram. He warned the government that the people of Telangana would not allow any developmental work at Polavaram if it is granted the National Project status before Pranahita-Chevella.
Addressing the issue of the contentious Clause 14 (F), Nagam claimed that he asked the CM to hasten the process of the deletion of the clause.
