Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today announced that the State government would take appropriate measures to implement reservation for the Madiga and Mala castes in the current job notifications, and would promulgate an ordinance if necessary in this direction.
Speaking in the Assembly on the Supreme Court's verdict on the Scheduled Caste categorization, the CM said that his government would take a decision on the categorization of SCs into A, B, C and D groups in accordance with the Supreme Court's verdict, and implement it in the ongoing job notifications.
He said that Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and minister Damodara Rajanarasimha had sent the Advocate General to the Supreme Court on December 23, 2023, and made a lot of effort to help argue the case.
"Now, the efforts made by the Telangana government have paid off and the judgment has come in favour of the categorisation," Reddy said.
The CM also alleged that the previous BRS government had suspended Congress MLA Sampath Kumar from the House for moving an adjournment motion on the SC categorization in the Assembly.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Supreme Court constitutional bench that gave a judgement in the long pending issue.
