Officials have failed to popularise welfare schemes, and also in taking their benefits to the doorsteps of the beneficiaries targeted, admits the union minister.
Union minister of state for Textiles Panabaka Lakshmi, on Tuesday, said that officials and Congress party workers have completely failed to take the government's welfare schemes to the doorsteps of genuine beneficiaries.
Talking to media persons as part of her visit to Gudivada in Krishna district, Panabaka Lakshmi alleged that officials and workers had failed to popularise welfare schemes, and also in taking their benefits to the doorsteps of the beneficiaries targeted.
She also pointed out that all the welfare schemes in the state have been implemented with the financial assistance of the Centre.
Responding on a question about the party's defeat in the recent by-elections, the union minister said that chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana have appointed a ministerial committee to find out the reasons for the party's failure. The committee, she said, would make recommendations to rejuvenate the party and gear up it for the 2014 general elections.
Stating that the Congress has a 125-year-old history, she said that the party would not suffer a major damage due to the resignation of a few leaders. She expressed confidence that the party would win a majority of seats in the 2014 general elections. (INN)
