Sarve Satyanarayana, former Union Minister and Congress candidate in the Warangal parliamentary by-election who forfeited his deposit, alleged that the ruling TRS won the election by manipulating the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and demanded an inquiry by a commission.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Satyanarayana said that the election result was not the people's verdict. He alleged the ruling party had faced severe public opposition during the election campaign, and as part of it the people had pulled up the ministers and TRS leaders campaigning. There was no possibility of it winning by such a huge mandate, he said.
Satyanarayana alleged that the TRS leaders had been manipulating the EVMs since the Cantonment elections. Pointing out that the TRS had never got such a huge majority even during the separate Telangana movement, Satyanarayana said that the TRS got huge majority and Congress lost its deposit because of the manipulation of EVMs by the ruling TRS party.
He also said that he would wage a legal war against the government in case it failed to order an open inquiry into the tampering of the EVMs.
He asked the Chief Minister to address a letter to the Election Commission within three days seeking a probe, saying that else he would go to court against the government.
Declaring that he would salute Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao if it was found that the EVMs were okay during the polling, Satyanarayana asked KCR to tender his resignation in case the EVMs were found to be manipulated/incorrect.
