The HYDRAA demolition drive continued in Hyderabad today, targeting encroachments on high-value government land in the upscale Banjara Hills area.
Officials removed illegal structures on five acres of land near the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital, valued at approximately Rs 750 crore. The operation was carried out under tight police security.
The encroached land, on Road No 10, Sheikhpet mandal, had been partially allotted to the Hyderabad Water Board, with 1.20 acres officially designated for the board. However, V R Infra's Parthasarathy and his son Vijay Bhargava claimed ownership of the entire five acres and had taken possession, erecting sheds and fencing the area. They had also deployed security personnel and dogs to guard the site.
Parthasarathy had approached the court claiming the land as his own through a registered sale deed, despite government records listing the property as land number 403/52 under government ownership. HYDRAA verified the land's status and removed the encroachments after inspecting the site.
Following the operation, HYDRAA officials fenced the entire five-acre plot and installed boards declaring it as government property.
