The Visakhapatnam police here today issued a notice to Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan over the holding of a huge public rally by his party activists and him.
City East Zone ACP Harshita Chandra served the notice to Pawan Kalyan at the Novotel Hotel.
In the notice, the police stated that no permission had been given to the JSP for holding the rally in view of the prohibitory order under the City Police Act. However, the party chief and over 500 of its activists took part in the rally, the police claimed.
The notice was served on the actor following a stone-pelting attack on some ministers.
Speaking to the media after the issuance of the notice, Kalyan alleged that the State government was serving notices on his party just for their fighting for the rights of the people.
He claimed that the stone-pelting attack took place even before his entry into the city, and that the police had served the notice alleging that the attack took place during his party's rally.
He added that he was ready to go to jail any number of times for the sake of the people.
