Two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) from Andhra Pradesh today lost their lives while two other police personnel sustained injuries in a road accident at Khaitapuram, near Choutuppal in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.
The incident occurred when DSPs Chakradhar Rao and Shantha Rao, along with Additional SP Prasad, were coming to Hyderabad from Vijayawada. The DSPs met with an accident and died on the spot. Medical professionals reported that the condition of the driver, Narsing Rao, was critical. ASP Prasad is said to be stable.
The accident took place around 5 am as the police team was travelling to Hyderabad. Upon reaching Khaitapuram, the driver lost control and crashed into a road divider at high speed. The vehicle then veered onto the opposite side of the road, where it was struck by an oncoming lorry. The injured - Narsing Rao and ASP Prasad - were immediately taken to a hospital. Narsing Rao was later shifted to a private hospital in L B Nagar, Hyderabad, for advanced treatment.
The police have launched an investigation. A team of officers from Vijayawada has also arrived in the city to assist in the inquiry. The Rachakonda police have registered a case and are actively probing the incident.
