Vijayawada As Seemandhra Capital: Parthasarathy

In case of bifurcation, Vijayawada should be the capital of the resulting "Seemandhra" state, the Primary Education Minister says.

Primary Education Minister K Parthasarathy, on Saturday, proposed that Vijayawada be made the capital of Seemandhra in case Andhra Pradesh is bifurcated.

Talking to reporters in Vijayawada, Parthasarathy said that although he is in favour of a united Andhra Pradesh, in case the Centre decides to divide the state, Vijayawada should be the capital of the resulting "Seemandhra" state.

He said that Vijayawada is equipped with all the basic necessities, although they need more upgradation. (INN)
