Telangana Rashtra Samithi's Medak MP M Vijayashanti, on Saturday, came down heavily on the proposed Maha Deeksha of YSR Congress honorary president Y S Vijayalakshmi, which is being planned on 23 July at Sircilla in Karimnagar district.
Talking to media persons at the TRS Bhavan, Vijaya Shanthi asked Vijayamma why she was not taking up a Deeksha on the problems prevailing in the Rayalaseema region. She accused Vijayamma of staging Maha Deeksha to get mileage on the weavers' issue in the region.
She claimed that around 250 weavers had committed suicide during YSR's regime between 2004 and 2009, and attributed the suicides to YSR's policies and programs.
Stating that she has no objection to the Deeksha, the Medak MP, however, demanded Vijayamma to first make her party's stand on the Telangana statehood issue clear.
She added that the TRS would allow Seemandhra leaders to conduct their protests only after they make their stand on Telangana clear. (INN)
