The State government today issued guidelines for the Nethannaku Bharosa scheme that is aimed at empowering the weaver community in Telangana.
Textiles and Handlooms Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao mentioned that the government had allocated Rs 48 crore in the budget for the scheme, which would provide wage incentives to weavers and allied workers in two installments per year, and benefit around 40,000 handloom weavers and allied workers.
For context, under the scheme, a maximum of Rs 18,000 per year will be provided to weavers and Rs 6,000 to allied workers as wage incentives. The scheme applies to weavers and allied workers who work on geo-tagged looms.
