Senior Congress leader and former MP V Hanumantha Rao on Wednesday set a deadline of April 30 for the Telangana government to re-install a B R Ambedkar statue at the Punjagutta circle.
He told the government that all the opposition political parties had extended their support to the re-installation of the statue of the architect of Indian constitution at an all-party meeting held on February 22, and warned the government that the opposition would intensify their agitation if it did not install the statue by the deadline.
He also said that he would meet all the MPs of the country in Parliament on March 4 and seek their support for the demand.
He added that his supporters and he would stage a dharna at Jantar Mantar on March 6 with the same demand, and follow it up with another dharna at Indira Park in the city.
He thanked Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi for writing a letter to the GHMC Commissioner urging him to install the statue at the same place.
