MP and Telangana Congress president Revanth Reddy today wrote an open letter to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao about the cancellation of the Group 1 preliminary examination by the Telangana High Court.
Reddy said, "The High Court's direction to the government to re-conduct the Group 1 (preliminary) examination is a blow to your government. This plight is the result of the destruction of institutions. Since the beginning of the Telangana movement, students and youth from Osmania University to Kakatiya University stood by the movement and kept the need for Telangana State alive. The youth and students played a vital role in the Telangana movement, from the first phase of the movement in 1969 to the third phase of 2014."
"However, ever since the advent of Telangana State in 2014, the youth have been facing deprivation in every step. Suicides by 27 students due to mistakes in the evaluation of Intermediate papers, the EAMCET paper leakage, the electricity company recruitment exam paper leak, the class 10 paper leak and and your most recent fraud culminating in the TSPSC paper leakage are huge tragedies. Despite all this, however, there is no change in the attitude of your government. A single review meeting did not take place," Reddy lamented.
He said that despite the Biswal Committee report clearly stating that there were 1.92 lakh jobs vacant in the State, there was no plan from the BRS government's side to fill those vacancies. He also said that at the time of the 2018 elections KCR had promised the unemployed youth Rs 3,016 as an unemployment allowance, but cheated them by never implementing that promise despite 5 years having passed.
Reddy also lamented the "constantly crushed hopes" of the State's youth hoping for government jobs. "30 lakh youths are preparing for the exams for government jobs by even skipping meals. They are preparing by staying in hostels and paying coaching centres with the money sent by their indigent parents. However, there is no empathy shown by your government. The Group 1 preliminary exam held on 22nd October last year had to be cancelled after the papers leaked due to your negligence and incompetence. The exam was conducted once again on June 11. It was expected that you would correct your mistakes based on past experience and conduct the exam efficiently this time, but you have exposed your incompetence once again," he said.
"It is your basic responsibility to establish a biometric system and provide OMR sheets with hall ticket numbers. But neither was done. The verdict given by the High Court to re-conduct the Group 1 preliminary examination is a severe blow to you. It has been proved that your government is simply incapable of conducting the Group 1 exam. This situation would not have been arisen if strict action had been taken when the paper leakage scam came to light. You cancelled the exams then and punished the students when the mistake was made by someone else," Reddy said.
The TPCC president said that Telangana's youth and unemployed had lost all faith and trust that the TSPSC would be reformed. He however asked the students and youth not to despair. "The Congress will come to government in three months. We have already announced the Youth Declaration for the youth and students. 2 lakh jobs will be filled within a year of the Congress coming to power. We will announce the job calendar and fill the jobs transparently within the stipulated time. And for each unemployed person, a Rs 4,000 unemployment benefit will be provided. Only if the KCR government is dissolved will the filling of jobs be done transparently. If there is to be a fair job recruitment in Telangana, the only way is to dissolve the KCR government and bring the Congress to power," he said.
