The Vice-President expressed his appreciation for the Telangana government making Telugu a compulsory subject in the schools and colleges of Telangana.
Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu today expressed his appreciation for the Telangana government making Telugu a compulsory subject in the schools and colleges of Telangana.
In a tweet, Naidu commented on the Telangana government's decision to make the language a mandatory subject from classes I to XII.
"I welcome the decision of Telangana Government to make Telugu a compulsory subject from first to 12th standards," he tweeted from his official @VPSecretariat Twitter account.
The Vice-President, who has been batting for giving importance to one's mother tongue at several occasions, appealed to other states to follow suit.
"Others States must emulate the example of Telangana Government in according top priority to mother tongue. I hope, Andhra Pradesh Government @AndhraPradeshCM will take a similar decision at the earliest," he also tweeted.
