Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu has decided to adopt Chepalupada village of the Visakhapatnam district, which has been ravaged by Cyclone Hudhud.
Speaking to media persons, Venkaiah Naidu said that he and his family members would adopt the village and spend money for its reconstruction.
He also announced Rs 25 lakhs in assistance to the village from his MPLAD funds.
He said that he would also follow up with the Centre to get the maximum possible financial assistance for the cyclone-hit areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh, which were devasted on October 12 by the fury of Hudhud.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already announced an interim assistance of Rs 1,000 crores after visiting the cyclone-hit areas. Naidu said that the Centre would announce a full rehabilitation package after the completion of the assessment of the losses. (INN)
