Central Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police Akun Sabharwal said, on Saturday, that former Member of Parliament Ram Vilas Vedanthi would be the Chief Guest at the Ganesh immmersion this year, and that chances were that Amritsar Member of Parliament Navjoth Singh Sidhu and RSS Prachar Pramuk Manmohan Vaidya would also take part.
Sabharwal said that in view of the visits, tight security will be provided to prevent any untoward incident in the city.
Sabharwal said that in addition to the 13 DSPs, 18 Inspectors, 56 Sub-Inspectors, and 92 Sub-Inspectors (trainees), approximately 1,200 personnel will also be deployed on the Tank Bund - NTR Marg route from 18th to 23rd September.
The DCP added that approximately 10,000 to 12,000 idols of various sizes were expected to be immersed in the Hussain Sagar during the Ganesh Utsav, for which 19 cranes at Tank Bund and 10 cranes at NTR Marg had been set, works for which will be held in 2 shifts.
The officials will also deploy a Mobile Control Centre vehicle - which will contain facilities like a Public Address System, television and Internet connectivity, and also room to hold a mini-conference accommodating 10 officers - at the Tank Bund.
Sabharwal said that motorcycle-borne cameramen will be deployed to relay live pictures to the Mobile Control Centre, to ensure better supervision and deployment of force, using remote-controlled cameras at a height of 20-30 meters using the Fire Department's crane "BRONTO".
The DCP said that a format had been designed and record sheets printed for each crane which would give data of number, date and specific time of immersion of idols being performed by each crane, which would assist in planning minute law and order arrangements for Ganesh Visarjan in the coming years.
Sabharwal added once it was known what time and on which date the immersion would be higher, planning for manpower deployment can be done in a better manner.
