Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao will organize a dharna on February 21 in protest against the proposed Land Acquisition Bill by the Union government.
Speaking to media persons in the Assembly premises, VHR informed that the dharna would be organised at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park on February 21 from 10 am to 6 pm.
He said that all the leaders of the Telangana Congress, including TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah, had been invited to participate in the agitation.
He said that AICC president Sonia Gandhi, Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and General Secretaries Digvijay Singh and Ahmed Patel had also been briefed about the same.
VHR said that the Congress would strongly oppose the Bill in the forthcoming session of Parliament beginning from February 23. He alleged that the proposed law was aimed at taking away the lands of farmers to benefit realtors.
He claimed that the Congress governments never took away the lands of farmers in the past, although it implemented the best industrial policies across the country. (INN)
