Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao accused Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu of going back on his stand on giving Special Status to Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media persons in the Assembly premises on Sunday, VHR reminded that during the discussion on the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill in Rajya Sabha last year, Venkaiah demanded Special Status for AP for 10 years. However, he had changed his stand after the BJP came to power, and was now citing technical and other reasons to deny Special Status for AP.
VHR announced that the Congress party would move a private Bill in the Rajya Sabha seeking Special Status for AP.
He said that he would raise the issue in the forthcoming budget session of the Parliament.
Speaking about the Land Acquisition Bill, VHR said that the Congress would strongly oppose the bill in the Parliament.
Further, he urged the TRS government to pass a resolution in the Telangana legislature against the proposed bill, which he claimed was against the interests of farmers. (INN)
