V C Sajjanar Is New Hyderabad Police Commissioner

The Telangana government today appointed senior IPS officer V C Sajjanar as the new Commissioner of Police for Hyderabad.
The incumbent Commissioner, C V Anand, has been reassigned as Special Chief Secretary of the Home Department.
Sajjanar, a 1996-batch IPS officer, belonged to the Andhra Pradesh cadre and was later allocated to the Telangana cadre after the State's bifurcation. He began his career as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Jangaon, Warangal district, and later served in Pulivendula, Kadapa district. Following his promotion, he served as Superintendent of Police (SP) in several key districts, including Nalgonda, Kadapa, Guntur, Warangal and Medak. He also headed the Crime Investigation Department's Economic Offences Wing, served as SP for OCTOPUS (Organisation for Countering Terrorist Operations), and worked as Commandant of the 6th Battalion of APSP in Mangalagiri.
After his elevation to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and subsequently Inspector General (IG) of Police, Sajjanar served in the Intelligence Department until March 2018. He then served as Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, from March 2018 to August 2021, before taking charge as Managing Director of TSRTC in September 2021.
