Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today asked officials to explore using transgenders as volunteers in streamlining the traffic in Hyderabad.
The CM held a review meeting with officials of the municipal administration department at the Secretariat. Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, MLA Jayveer Reddy, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, GHMC Commissioner Amrapali and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy advised steps to provide employment to the transgenders on the lines of how the Home Guards system worked, and ordered the officials to collect the details of those who were interested.
He also asked the officials about the progress in the development of roads and footpaths, cleaning and other works under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
The Chief Minister said that the works should be completed within the deadlines under any circumstances, and that the contractors who got the tenders and neglected the works should not be ignored.
"A complete report should be prepared within 15 days regarding those contractors who have not done the work. If false reports are given, action should be taken against those authorities," he said.
