UOH Suicide Under Centre's Purview: Nayani

Telangana Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy on Saturday said that Hyderabad Central University (University Of Hyderabad) research scholar Rohith Vemula's suicide case did not come under the purview of the Telangana State government, and that the Central Government alone could handle the case.

Speaking to mediapersons after inspecting the arrangements for the TRS public meeting at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on Saturday, the Home Minister said that the TRS government did not want to intervene in Vemula's suicide case and the ongoing agitation.

"We don't want to get involved in the case and burn our fingers," he said, adding that the State government had already recommended a CBCID inquiry into the case, and was awaiting the Centre's permission.
