Orphans To Be Considered SC/ST

Orphans in Andhra Pradesh in government orphanages whose parents cannot be identified will henceforth be listed among Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Orphans in Andhra Pradesh who are under the care of government orphanages and whose parents cannot be identified will henceforth be listed among Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

This was revealed by Backward Class Welfare Minister Basavaraju Saraiah on Sunday who said that these orphans would be issued SC/ST certificates.

Saraiah was speaking to media persons after participating in a Bala Vikas Program in Hanumakonda in Warangal district on Sunday.

Saraiah said that the government will also provide primary education to these orphans up to the 10th standard. "Such a revolutionary and historical decision is perhaps the first in the country, and it has been taken considering the orphans' welfare and future," he stated. (INN)
