The Telangana government today released another Rs 500 crore towards the implementation of the pilot phase of the Dalit Bandhu scheme in Huzurabad.
The Telangana SC Cooperative Development Corporation released the funds to the Karimnagar Collector for the program. With this allocation, the state government has now released a total of Rs 2,000 crore for the implementation of the scheme.
The fund release comes after Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's announcement that Rs 2,000 crore would be spent on the new Dalit empowerment scheme.
Reports suggest that the CM may even visit Karimnagar on Friday (tomorrow) to personally inspect the execution of the program.
The Telangana government aims to provide support to the Dalit community by offering Rs 10 lakh to each SC household with which the households can set up their own businesses. To achieve this, the CM has directed Secretary Somesh Kumar to monitor the implementations of the scheme closely.
KCR had himself
released Rs 500 crore for the state's newest flagship scheme in Huzurabad at a public meeting some days ago.
While the SC community of the state may be rejoicing, the parties of the Opposition have been relentless in their attacks on the scheme. Raising objections about both the timing and the location of the launch of the program's pilot phase, they have been claiming that the TRS regime has introduced the empowerment scheme just to win the upcoming by-election in Huzurabad, and have demanded that it be implemented all over the state immediately.
