Rs. 1.1 Cr Seized In Kadapa
Police personnel at check posts in Badvel, Kadapa, have seized unaccounted cash of Rs. 1.1 crores since the implementation of the election code.

Badvel police on Saturday seized unaccounted cash of Rs. 3 lakh from a businessman, and sarees worth more than Rs 3. lakh from another person, at the T P Kunta check post in Gopavaram mandal in Kadapa district.
According to Inspector K Ullafaiah, Rs. 3 lakhs were seized from a businessman named Prattipadu Vengaiah, aged 60, a resident of Vinjapuram in Nellore district. Vengaiah claimed that he was heading towards Sanga Reddy in Medak district to purchase bricks for his business, and that he had drawn the said amount from the Andhra Pragathi Bank in Vinjapuram. However, he had failed to produce the relevant documents to back his claim, when asked to do so.
The Inspector added that the seized cash was handed over to the income tax department for further investigations.
Later in the evening, the police personnel manning the check-post also seized an auto-rickshaw that was carrying sarees that were worth more than Rs. 3 lakhs. The auto-rickshaw driver had told the police that the sarees were procured from textile industries in Nellore district, and that he was taking the consignment to Badvel. However, the consignment was seized after he failed to produce proper documents or the consignment form from the relevant industries.
Ullafaiah stated that cash amounting to Rs. 1.1 crore had been seized since the election code came into effect at the check-post.
On April 18th, police personnel had seized around Rs. 4.95 lakhs in cash from a doctor named Muralidhar, who had produced fake documents when he was questioned about the source of the money.
The police had also seized Rs. 55 lakhs from a person who is suspected to be acquainted to an MLA from Nellore, on April 12th. The driver of the car that was ferrying the money, along with 2 others, was detained and interrogated.
A day earlier, another car that had been stopped and searched at the Pipikunta check post in Gopavaram mandal had yielded cash amounting to Rs. 28 lakhs. (INN)
