Two of the 47 samples tested for the dreaded coronavirus in Gandhi Hospital at Secunderabad on March 3 tested positive, creating a massive ripple in the city today.
This takes the total number of people infected by the virus in Hyderabad to three.
The two samples that tested positive today have been sent to National Institute of Virology, Pune, for further testing. The report is expected on Thursday.
The two patients have been kept in the isolation ward in the hospital, and the remaining 45 have been discharged and advised strict home isolation for 14 days.
One of the two had recently travelled to Italy, and the second is a contact of
the first person from Hyderabad who had tested positive, and works in DSM Shared Services in Raheja Mindspace building number 20.
Upon receipt of the information, the company immediately closed both its offices in Hyderabad, in Mindspace and in Brightspace, to thoroughly sanitize them, and asked its employees to leave and work from home. They were also advised to wear masks and use sanitisers to avoid any infection.
Employees were also advised to go home from some other IT companies in Hitech city.
