Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today announced that the State government would launch two more "guarantees" - LPG cylinders for Rs 500 and free power upto 200 units to families with white ration cards - on February 27.
He said that both the schemes would be launched by AICC leader Priyanka Gandhi.
For the first time as the Chief Minister of Telangana, Reddy on Friday visited the Sammakka Saralamma jathara at Medaram in Mulugu district and offered prayers to the deities. He offered jaggery to the goddesses equalling his weight.
Speaking with the media later, the CM spoke about the 75 days of rule of the Congress government in Telangana, and reiterated that in the coming days it would continue to work according to the aspirations of the people.
He also promised that the Medaram area would be developed by the State government, with the aim of providing all possible facilities to the devotees.
The CM also slammed the Union government for not announcing the Medaram Jathara as a national festival, and questioned its discrimination against Telangana's tribal festival. Speaking of the power and sanctity of the deities, he claimed that former chief minister and BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao had lost the recent Assembly elections for not visiting the jathara.
He also pointed out that the Congress party's Hath Se Hath Jodo yatra had been launched from Medaram on February 6 last year, and said that "Indiramma Rajyam" had come to Telangana only with the blessings of the goddesses Sammakka and Saralamma.
"We came to power due to the blessings of goddesses Sammakka and Saralamma. That's the reason the Congress government has allocated Rs 110 crore for the celebration of the Medaram Jathara," Reddy said.
The Chief Minister also said that the State government was going to conduct an inquiry through a sitting judge into the corruption in the irrigation projects constructed during the tenure of the previous BRS government. He also said that a clear statement would be issued soon on the Congress' election promise of waiver of agriculture loans of upto Rs 2 lakh.
