Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao vowed that the TRS would not ask for votes if it failed to construct two lakh free double-bedroom houses by the end of 2017.
The CM said that the state government would construct one lakh double bedroom houses each in the urban and the rural areas.
Speaking during the discussion on the budget in the Legislative Assembly on Friday, KCR said that the construction of double bedroom houses had gotten delayed due to a lack of contractors.
The CM also alleged that the opposition parties were speaking on the development of the state without awareness. For example, he said, the people involved in caste-based professions like Yadavs and Kurumas were celebrating after the 2017-18 budget while the opposition parties were slamming the initiatives and allotments for them.
The main problem was that the opposition parties' leaders were unable to digest the strengthening of the stat's economy, he said. He asked the opposition parties to extend their cooperation to the state government's development activities instead of continuously carping.
KCR also reiterated that the TRS government would not go in for early polls, and said that there was ample time for elections. He said that he didn't understand why the opposition parties were in a hurry for elections. The people were intelligent and would not cast their vote in case the rule was not upto their expectations.
