Never Indulged In Vindictive Politics: Revanth Reddy

The Telangana CM said that had he sought vengeance, the opposition members would not have been able to sit in their seats and speak freely.
Hyderabad | 27th March 2025
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today said that he had never encouraged or engaged in vindictive politics.

Speaking in the Assembly, he said that had he indulged in such acts, the opposition members would not have been able to sit in their seats and speak freely.

"They would have been put behind bars, just as I was imprisoned during the BRS rule," he said.

The CM said that the law imposed only a Rs 500 fine for using drones, and yet the previous government had abused its power and had him imprisoned in the Cherlapally jail, despite his status as an MP.

"I controlled my anger even after being kept in a detention cell for 16 days without being allowed to meet a single person. The authorities kept the lights on in the jail to prevent me from sleeping at night. The then rulers prevented me from leaving the jail even to distribute wedding invitations for my daughter. Though I was an MP, they detained me like a notorious criminal. Was that not a political vendetta against me? Still I have not sought vengeance. If I did, your entire family would have been in the Cherlapally jail. But I chose wisdom over retaliation. People did not give me a mandate for vindictive politics," Reddy said.

"But God punished those leaders who were vengeful against me. He sent them to the hospital for their actions," he added.

The CM also said that he had exercised restraint even after being subjected to recorded abuses in his own party office.

"The Telangana society is watching closely to see who has truly indulged in vendetta politics," he concluded.
