A major road accident in Sangareddy district's Choutkur mandal today claimed five lives.
The mishap occurred when a lorry and a car collided head on. The five victims, identified as Luka (46), his wife Deevena (41), Ambadas (33), his wife Padma (23) and their son Vivek (6), were killed on the spot due to the impact of the collision.
The car in which they were travelling was coming from Sangareddy when it hit a lorry moving in the opposite direction.
Police officials revealed that the group was returning to their village in Medak. They had gone to the Sangareddy district hospital as Ambadas and Padma's son, Vivek, needed to visit a doctor.
The officials also said that though they had rushed to the location where the crash had taken place, it had taken them a long time to extract the bodies from the car as it was badly mangled due to the crash.
The bodies were then taken to the Sangareddy government hospital for postmortem.
Pulkal SI Nagalakshmi later visited the site of the crash and a case was registered on the incident.
Telangana has been witnessing a
spate of road accidents. This newest one will likely raise the issue of road safety in the state yet again.
