The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said this evening that there would be no compromise on safeguarding the devotees coming to Tirumala to see the Lord.
The Chairman reviewed the situation that led to the leopard attack on six-year-old Lakshita, and also visited the spot where her body was found.
The forest and TTD vigilance officials explained how the wild cat attacked and dragged the girl's body in the forest.
Speaking to media persons later, the TTD Chairman said that the TTD had already initiated several safety measures in the backdrop of a similar incident in June 22nd.
He added that the TTD would not hesitate to undertake any expenses if the forest, police or TTD officials came up with additional safety proposals.
He said that given the various wildlife protection initiatives, the number of wild animals was also increasing.
He promised the family of Lakshita that the TTD would extend all possible support, and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh, of which Rs 5 lakh would be from the TTD and the other Rs 5 lakh would be from the forest department to the bereaved family.
He also appealed to parents to take all possible precautions to keep their children in their sights while trekking on footpaths.
