Electric buses of the TSRTC are soon going to run to far-flung areas.
10 electric AC buses of the corporation are currently plying on the Vijayawada route. For the first time, the corporation has decided to make Express, Deluxe and Super Luxury electric buses available to passengers on other routes, too.
The corporation has already placed an order for 1,860 electric buses, and some of them are to be deployed as early as in December. TSRTC Managing Director V C Sajjanar personally inspected the manufacturing of the new electric buses being made by the JBM Group in Palwal of Haryana today. Two proto (model) buses being provided to the TSRTC were inspected by him. He held discussions with the JBM Group's Head of Sales (North) Mukesh Sharma and made several suggestions, and requested them to complete the manufacturing at the earliest and hand them over to the TSRTC.
"The JBM Group will supply 500 electric buses to TSRTC as per the agreement. They will be provided by the company in a phased manner. Some buses will be available in December. The corporation will bring these buses into use with state-of-the-art features without compromising on amenities for the passengers," Sajjanar said.
These buses would be equipped with CCTV cameras for safety and security along with a facility to count passengers, he said. A Fire Detection Suppression System (FDSS) was being installed in the buses to detect fire accidents early and prevent them. There would also be reverse parking assistance cameras, and the buses would have LED boards to display the details of the destinations, he added.
