The Telangana government announced its plans to ply TSRTC Mini Buses named "Vajra" to pick up people from their doorsteps or nearby places to avoid the "pain" of making it to bus stops.
The TSRTC would spend Rs. 50 crores to purchase 236 minibuses for the State, Telangana Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy said.
Along with TSRTC Chairman S Satyanarayana and M D Ramana Rao, the minister made a visit to the RTC and inspected a few mini buses. The TSRTC was offering a new comfort to Telangana people and was a highly appreciable move, he said.
As an initial experiment, the TSRTC would ply 36 mini buses on the Hyderabad- Nizamabad route in November and 18 buses on the Hyderabad-Warangal route, he said, adding that the same would be extended to other districts.
He also said that in order to draw revenue, the transport body would construct business complexes and multiplexes in its terminals across the State.
