AP Private Buses Eating Into State Revenues: TRS

Minister P Mahender Reddy promised that the State government would take act against the private transport vehicles and prevent revenue drain.
Hyderabad | 22nd December 2016
Telangana Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy said that the State government would take stringent action against private transport vehicles that come from Andhra Pradesh to the TS without permits and eat into its revenues.

During the Question Hour, TRS member V Srinivas Goud raised the issue of private vehicles of AP causing revenue loss to the State and sought preventive measures. Stating that 2,000 such vehicles coming from AP to Telangana, which was sending only 200 to AP, he sought to know what steps were being taken by the State government to prevent the same.

He also expressed anguish at the AP transport vehicles for trying to "loot" Telangana Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) revenues and warned of serious consequences. The State government ought to initiate action against them and protect the interests of the State transport vehicles, Goud urged.

Responding on the issue, the Minister promised to control the situation and said that an inter-State meeting would be sought to sort out the issue. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao provided Rs. 1,000 crores financial assistance to the TSRTC to overcome problems and improve services, the Minister claimed.

Mahender Reddy also said that separate accounts were being maintained for the two Telugu States in the RTC and efforts were on to increase revenues by improving services at all levels.
