Bus services in Telangana resumed this morning after employees of the TGSRTC ended their three-day strike, providing relief to countless daily commuters.
Buses began operating from the first shift, restoring essential connectivity within the city and other regions of the State.
Passengers, who had faced limited transportation options and increased fares from private operators, showed noticeable relief as services returned to normal. Students, working professionals and women waiting at bus stops welcomed the arrival of RTC buses.
The resolution of the strike followed lengthy negotiations between the government and the labour unions. At the end, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced that the government had agreed to an 11% salary adjustment for RTC employees - a key demand.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that the discussions were productive and expressed confidence that services would stabilise rapidly. Union leaders also expressed satisfaction with the outcome and confirmed the end of the strike.
As part of the agreement, the government will establish a committee comprising officials and union representatives to review the longstanding demand to merge the RTC with the State government. The government has also approved elections for recognised unions, and further discussions will address other outstanding issues.
