The TSRTC today launched a bus tracking app.
The app has been named TSRTC Gamyam.
TSRTC Managing Director V C Sajjanar launched the app at the MGBS premises in Hyderabad along with top officials of the corporation.
The logo of the app was also unveiled on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sajjanar thanked CM K Chandrashekar Rao for merging the TSRTC into the State government. He said that the corporation welcomed the decision of the government, and that he was confident that the move would improve the TSRTC's services to the people.
Explaining the benefits of the app, he said that any smartphone user could use it to track buses.
"Through the Gamyam app, you can find out which buses are available from a starting point to a destination, and at what time. The details of the drivers and conductors will appear in the app. You can enter the route number for city buses and find out where the bus is. For long-distance services, the buses can be tracked on the basis of the reservation number. You can also find out the nearby bus stops through this app. At present, 4,170 buses of the TSRTC are trackable through the app. The tracking facility is available for the Pushpak airport and Metro Express services in Hyderabad. The facility has also been provided to all buses in the districts except Palle Velugu buses. And from October, we are going to enable tracking for all other bus services," Sajjanar said.
For the convenience of women passengers, the app has a new feature called "Plog a Bus". This feature is aimed at helping women commuters in areas where there are no bus stops at night. The feature will be available from 7 pm to 6 am. Once the details are entered by a commuter on the app, a green light will automatically appear on the screen of the smartphone. As soon as the light is pointed at the driver, the concerned driver will stop the bus.
There is also a facility to contact the TSRTC call centre through the SOS button in case of an emergency. The app has also been linked to dial 100 and 108. Named TSRTC Gamyam, the app is available on the Google Play Store. It can also be downloaded from the TSRTC's official website www.tsrtc.telangana.gov.in.
The app can be installed for free, and is available in Telugu and English. Users will not be required to provide any personal details on the app.
