The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Thursday organised programs across Telangana protesting the hike in the LPG cylinder price.
Following the call given by TRS working president K T Rama Rao, the party cadres took to the streets and staged different kinds of protests across the State.
The ruling party MLAs, MPs and other elected representatives led the protests in their respective areas, demanding that the Centre roll back the hike in LPG cylinders immediately.
The party activists burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at various places, and symbolically cooked meals with sticks displaying empty cylinders.
The TRS leaders alleged that the BJP government at the Centre was imposing an ever-increasing financial burden on the common people by increasing the prices of petroleum products and LPG ever since it came to power.
The LPG price per cylinder has been hiked to Rs. 1,105 from Rs. 1,055.
