The Telangana Rashtra Samithi, on Thursday, demanded that a special session of Parliament be convened to introduce and pass the bill for the formation of a Telangana state.
Talking to reporters, the TRS floor leader said that the formation of Telangana should not be delayed by constituting committees. He said that the Congress should prove its sincerity towards the Telangana cause by passing the bill in Parliament at the earliest.
He warned the ruling party of serious consequences if it tries to play politics on the statehood issue.
Etala appealed to employees, teachers, workers and students to participate in large numbers in the "Sakala Janula Bheri" being organised by the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee on September 29. He also announced that the TRS would soon convene a public meeting in Karimnagar.
The TRS leader also accused news channels of trying to spread falsehoods over the Telangana issue. Asking people to boycott "Seemandhra channels", he warned media groups of dire consequences if they try to sabotage the statehood cause. He also appealed to people to watch only Telangana channels to protect themselves from being influenced by Seemandhra "propaganda". (INN)
