TRS Rejects Srikrishna Report

The TRS has rejected the Justice Srikrishna Committee report, and asks for Telangana with Hyderabad as capital.
Hyderabad | 6th January 2011
As expected, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Thursday has said that the only option before the centre is to announce a separate Telangana state with Hyderabad as its capital.

Reacting to the options given in the Justice Srikrishna Committee report, Sircilla MLA K Taraka Rama Rao said that though the panel has recommended 6 options, the only option before the centre is to agree to a separate Telangana state with Hyderabad as its capital. He said that he hoped that wisdom will prevail and the Union government will agree to a separate state.

KTR said that the centre had already promised that the process of formation of Telangana state has begun, as stated by Union home minister P Chidambaram on December 9, 2009.

When asked if the TRS will take part in the meeting to be convened after 3 weeks to discuss the options given by the report KTR said that the party will take part in the meet only if the centre expresses its commitment to the formation of Telangana.

He said that even after more than a year after home minister P Chidambaram made that famous statement, the centre was still putting the onus of taking a decision on the formation of Telangana on the opposition by calling for consultations.

KTR further added that it was now time for all the politicians who had promised to resign on the issue to keep their word and quit their posts.
