Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Monday stated that the centre would announce the date for convening the second all-party meeting on the Justice B N Srikrishna Commission recommendations soon.
Talking to media persons, Chidambaram said that the date would be announced within a week after consulting the cabinet.
Stating that there would be no delay in the convening of the meeting, the Union Home Minister said the conclave would be held in February.
Chidambaram added that enough time had been given by the government to political parties to come with a unanimous stand on the contentious separate statehood issue.
The Union Home Minister reminded that the Srikrishna Committee Report was given to political parties on January 6th, and the elapsed time was sufficient for them to thoroughly study the report and its recommendations.
Chidambaram expressed the hope that all the 8 recognised political parties would attend the second all-party conclave, and not boycott it like they did for the similar meeting called on January 6th. He also hoped that the parties would give their valuable suggestions on the recommendations of the Justice Srikrishna Committee Report.
He said the centre would release Rs. 16 crores for the construction of a building for Detective Department in Hyderabad, and Rs. 300 crores from National Contingency Fund to take up relief operations in the state.
