A TRS leader Atish Agarwal was today fined a hefty sum for installing unauthorised flexes across the GHMC area. The flexes were reportedly more than 15 feet in height.
Agarwal had put up a large number of flexes to congratulate
newly elected GHMC Mayor Vijayalakshmi Gadwal on her appointment to the post.
The Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management (EVDM) wing of the GHMC penalised the leader after a Twitter user from the city posted pictures of the flexes put up in Banjara Hills. The user had tagged the GHMC in the post.
In the tweet, the citizen had sarcastically thanked Agarwal on behalf of the GHMC Mayor for dirtying the city.
After seeing the post, the EVDM authorities immediately took down the flexes, and imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on Agarwal.
Speaking on the matter, Gadwal said that she welcomed the move, and added that the people of the city would only respect laws and regulations when the "rule-makers" too followed the same laws.
Taking to Twitter, she wrote, "Issued fines to my followers who set up flexes and hoardings in GHMC premises. This is to reiterate the fact that everyone is equal before law. We must adhere to the rules and regulations of the city (sic)."
