Former MP and senior Congress leader Madhu Yashki Goud on Monday alleged that the ruling TRS had committed several irregularities and spent money illegally to win the recent Telangana municipal elections.
Goud alleged that the TRS was now bagging the municipalities won by the Congress and the BJP with the help of the votes of ex-officio members.
He urged the Governor to intervene into the issue and stop the "murder of democracy" in the state.
He also urged the Centre to intervene and discipline the State Election Commission and the police department.
Former MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy also alleged that the TRS was behaving in an undemocratic manner with regard to the elections for the municipal chairpersons' posts. He claimed that the MLA for Ibrahimpatnam, belonging to the TRS, was buying Congress MLAs with money earned in real estate, for their votes.
He also alleged that the police were taking away their party candidates to help the ruling party.
