The Telangana government today celebrated the young state's seventh formation day in a grand manner.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao paid homage to the martyrs of the decades-long statehood movement and later hoisted the national flag at his camp office, Pragati Bhavan.
The CM then assured the people of the state that he would "work hard", striving towards a "golden Telangana".
Later in the day, KCR called on Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan at the Raj Bhavan where he wished her on the occasion of her birthday. The two also exchanged greetings on the occasion of the state's formation day.
Among those who accompanied the CM to the Raj Bhavan were Hyderabad Mayor G Vijayalakshmi, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP M Mahender Reddy, and MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy.
At the TRS headquarters, the party's secretary-general K Keshava Rao, Prof Srinivas Reddy and other leaders also celebrated this year's state formation day with much gusto. They unfurled the tricolour and offered floral tributes to the martyrs of the Telangana agitation.
On the occasion, Keshava Rao highlighted the role of CM and party supremo KCR in the Telagana agitation, and praised the leader for subsequently ensuring welfare in the young state by implementing several welfare schemes to benefit various disadvantaged groups including the SC, ST, and BC communities.
Many ministers, including K T Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, Srinivas Goud, Srinivas Yadav, Mohammad Mahamood Ali, Jagadish Reddy, Sabitha Indra Reddy, and P Ajay Kumar, attended ceremonies and celebrations organised at the district level as well.
National leaders, including President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, too conveyed their greetings to the people of the state on the occasion.
While many Covid-19 related restrictions dampened this year's celebrations, the historic day was still observed with great enthusiasm across Telangana.
