On Thursday, all roads in Telangana led to Warangal in connection with the TRS public meeting being held there.
Defying oppressive heat, people, especially farmers, turning up in large numbers to participate in the 16th Foundation Day celebrations of Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
The roads were filled with all modes of transport vehicles from bicycles and bullock carts to autorickshaws, tractors, DCM vans and RTC and private buses. Sporting pink turbans, caps and scarves, people made the area a flood of pink. The rally of vehicles was so big that it outshone the "human chains" formed during the last days of the Telangana agitation. As a result, the Warangal Highway was jammed despite the traffic police personnel clearing the traffic constantly. A large number of vehicles were stranded between Aler and Warangal, and on the Khammam-Warangal highway.
The entire road route echoed with "Jai Telangana" and "KCR Zindabad" slogans. The TRS cadre supplied water and buttermilk to those headed for the meeting. Water tankers were arranged, and lakhs of water sachets and butter milk packets were handed out. Special medical camps were also set up at several locations across the sprawling ground to attend to any emergency cases.
