BJP leader and Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind today expressed his concern over the increasing number of attacks on the party offices and the houses of the leaders of the party.
Addressing the media in Delhi, Arvind alleged that the attacks were being made at the behest of the TRS' leaders, and demanded that the concerned authorities take steps to prevent such attacks immediately.
He also demanded that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao control his party's MLAs, and stop them from indulging in such "shameful activities" against the BJP.
The MP then addressed the issue of the collection of donations for the construction of Ayodhya's much-hyped Ram temple, and claimed that the party workers were taking part in the donation drive solely as they were invested in the cause of the temple.
He clarified that their participation was not a ploy to gain political or electoral benefits of any kind.
The BJP leader's comments come after the activists of the TRS and the BJP clashed with each other in Warangal district on Sunday - the BJP workers had reportedly attacked TRS MLA C Dharma Reddy’s Warangal residence, claiming that the MLA had made "objectionable remarks" against Prime Minister Modi and the members of the Ram Temple trust. In retaliation, TRS cadres had attacked the BJP Urban office in Hanamkonda. Following the incident, 45 BJP activists involved in the attack were arrested.
The clashes between the two parties have been on the rise for some time now. It is expected that as the Nagarjuna by-election and the MLC elections in two of the state's graduates' constituencies inch closer, the tensions between the two groups will only worsen.
